By Joey Martin

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) - Monday, the Twin Falls City Council approved two separate requests to name a few new parks here in the city of Twin Falls.

First was the new South Estates Park Located directly behind Oregon Trail Elementary.

Over the past 19 months, and almost $60,000 later the Blue Lake Rotary Club has been tirelessly working to make this empty lot of grass into a neighborhood park everyone can be proud of.

On Monday the Twin Falls City Council decided to show their appreciation to the club and re–named the park the "Blue Lake Rotary Park".

The other park is a little different.

Over the past several years the city has been trying to put together the funds to erect a dog park within city limits.

And tonight with a generous donation of $10,000 from Twin Falls resident Marcia Lanting, that park is on its way to become a reality.

To thank Mrs. Lanting, the City of Twin Falls will officially name the proposed park at the corner of Shoup and Blake Street the "Baxter's Park in Memory of Dale Drown".

In memory of her bother Dale and her beloved dog Baxter who both passed away recently.

With a proposed budget of around $40,000, Marcia Lanting’s donation will more than pay for an entire quarter of the proposed project.
