Two Star General To Investigate Bergdahl Disappearance

San Antonio, Texas (CNN) - A two star general will investigate how and why Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl left his base in Afghanistan.

The Hailey solider is receiving medical treatment after spending five years in Taliban captivity. Bergdahl was exchanged for five terror suspects being held at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.

The Army says the investigation will start this week, but it is still not clear when Bergdahl will undergo formal questioning.

According to CNN, the senior defense official declined to name the general who will investigate until there is a formal announcement.
The Army has no definitive finding that Bergdahl deserted because that would require knowing his intent -- something officials couldn't learn without talking to the soldier, a U.S. military official recently told CNN.

Bergdahl, 28, is currently at a military medical facility in San Antonio, Texas. he arrived there early Friday morning.
