UPDATED INFORMATION: Fires Continue To Burn In Southern Idaho

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) – During the morning and early afternoon lightning brought more fires to the Twin Falls District BLM. Currently there are crews working on seven fires around the district. The most recent fire reported at 1:40 p.m., is the Wapi Fire, burning 8 miles Northeast of Minidoka. It is currently estimated at 160 acres with no containment or control time set at this time. Resources on the fire include five engines, one air attack, four helicopters, and one single engine air tanker. The other two fire starts today include the Mammoth Cave fire reported at 8:30 a.m., it burned 14.5 acres and was contained at 11:45 a.m with a control time of 6:00 p.m. this evening. Two engines and one water tender are on scene. Shoshone Rural Fire Department also responded, but have been released from the fire. The Raft River Fire was reported at 12:30 p.m. today and is located south of Coldwater near Massacre Rock area. The fire has burned approximately 100 acres and a containment time has been set for 5:00 p.m. and a control set for 9:00 p.m. Resources on scene include four engines and one water tender. Malta Rural Fire Department also responded, but have been released and there is no air support on scene.

Updates
Laidlaw Park Fire – The fire was contained yesterday at 7:00 p.m. Control time is set for 7:00 p.m. today. Two engines remain on scene. No air support is on scene.

Rabbit Springs Fire – The fire was contained yesterday at 11:00 p.m. and control time is set for today at 7:00 p.m. Some resources have been released from the fire and only five engines remain on scene. No air support is on scene.

Little Birch Creek Fire – The fire acreage has been updated to 933 acres with a containment time set for 8:00 p.m. tonight and a control time set for tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. Resources on scene include, seven engines, two dozers, Cedar City Hot Shot Crew, Cache Peak five person hand crew, and a hand crew out of Medford, Oregon. No air support is on scene.

Rock Creek Fire – The fire has burned approximately 125 acres. Containment time is set for 5:00 p.m. and control time set for 9:00 p.m. No air support is on scene.

BOISE – As smoke from numerous wildfires lingers over the Treasure Valley, firefighters continue to battle wildfires throughout southwest Idaho. High temperatures are increasing fire behavior and continuing to dry vegetation throughout the state.
