Postal Service study possible move of Twin Falls Processing facility to Boise
TWIN FALLS, ID. (KMVT-TV) In a news release issued Monday, the U.S. Postal service says they are accepting public comment about their plan to move the functions of the Twin Falls processing facility to Boise. The following is that release.
The U.S. Postal Service will hold a public meeting to discuss its proposal to move some mail processing operations from the Twin Falls Customer Service Mail Processing Center (CSMPC) into the Boise, ID, Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC). The meeting will take place at 6 p.m., on Tuesday, June 7, at the College of Southern Idaho Fine Arts Theatre, 315 Falls Avenue, in Twin Falls. With the deep decline in mail volume due to current economic conditions and continuing electronic diversion, the Postal Service has an excess of employees and equipment in some mail processing operations. A study was begun last month at the Twin Falls CSMPC to determine the feasibility of consolidating redundant operations to see if any efficiencies and cost savings would be achieved. Initial study results support consolidating some mail processing operations that are currently being performed at the Twin Falls CSMPC by taking advantage of available processing capacity at the Boise P&DC in order to increase efficiency and improve productivity. While no final decision has been reached, Postal Service managers will give an overview of the reasons for the proposal and its possible outcomes, and will listen to community input and concerns. A summary of the proposal and presentation materials will be made available on usps.com one week before the meeting date.
