Jackpot, Nevada ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) National affairs to local issues... That's what was being discussed in Jackpot Wednesday at the Veterans of Foreign Affairs' 82nd Conference.

Korean, Vietnam, and World War Two veterans gathered for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Convention held every year.

"We come here to go through our issues that we have in the state, membership issues, community activities and also elect new officers in the ensuing year coming up," explains George Peacock, Chief of Staff.

Discussions included national to local affairs.

The Commander In Chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Bill Thien, is happy about the veterans' involvement in the organization.

"We got some great volunteers here that do a lot of community service, and we’re always looking for younger veterans and our female veterans to come into the organization because they’re going to be the future leaders of this organization," he says.

The organization helps not only veterans but active duty troops, letting veterans get more involved in the future of the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization.

Wednesday the organization elected new officials for groups based in Idaho.
