Vietnam Refugee 'Makes Good' In U.S.
Burley, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A local man who defied the odds and made his way out of a war-ravaged country decades ago is sharing his story with local students.
In 1975, Scott Ngo, then a teenage boy, escaped from Vietnam to the US. He learned to read English and attended college to become an electrical engineer. Today that grownup boy shared his story with students at Cassia High School in Burley.
Ngo says, "To succeed, it's very simple. I've been saying three things all day long. Believe in yourself, work hard, and make good choices. And life will come to you."
Today Ngo works at Boise Packaging In Burley. He encouraged these students to go to college and university, so that they don't get left behind by everybody else.
