Rupert, Idaho (KMVT-TV) How would you like to walk a mile in heels?
That’s exactly what many in the Mini–Cassia area will be doing this weekend.
This year to celebrate domestic violence month.. The Mini–Cassia shelter is doing a "Walk In Her Shoes" fundraiser followed by a candlelight vigil.
Men will walk in women's high heel shoes to raise awareness about domestic and sexual violence.
According to the Idaho State Police... a small percentage of men perpetrate over 90 percent of all violent crimes in the state.
However, most men don't make the choice to be violent.
“I’m feeling very positive about it. Its just, people have been so excited about it and receptive of this. It’s just amazing to see how this community is starting to come together.” Said Executive Director of Walk a Mile, Pam Harris.
Registration for the event will start at 2 with the main event running all day Saturday from 3 to 7 p–m.
