Who Were The 'The Homeless Twenty'?

By Brittany Cooper

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The Tidbits and Treasures program continues at the Twin Falls Library, this time looking back at early Twin Falls.

Reference librarian Jennifer Hills presented The Homeless Twenty to a group of a dozen or so. However in this context, twenty doesn't refer to the number of men, but their state of mind.

The presentation showcases the group of men responsible for developing the Magic Valley. With very few building permits in the early 1900's, it wasn't surprising to find them living in tents.

"All of these men could come from various parts of the country, coming out for different reasons and they could come together, form a social net and that led to civic and economic prosperity," says Hills.

Curtis Johnson will present the next presentation on the Rock Creek Station and the Stricker Homesite, on April 17th at 12 p.m. in the Idaho Room of the library.
