Burley, Idaho (KMVT-TV) A state lawmaker's wife is in the hospital following a home explosion Saturday night.

Rep. Fred Wood and his wife Amy were having dinner when a room they converted into a gun safe exploded.

We spoke to Rep. Stephen Hartgen who tells us they heard a roaring noise from the basement and that's when Fred went down to investigate.

There was apparently pressure coming through the door of the gun room. The explosion caused the patio roof to collapse which was the roof over the gun room, according to Hartgen.

Amy was on the patio at the time.

She suffered second degree burns and was air lifted to a Utah hospital. Rep. Hartgen tells us she's in stable, but serious condition.

The cause is still under investigation.
