Winter Storm Slams Into Southern Idaho

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Many Magic Valley residents got woken by strong winds, snow and sleet pounding against their houses early Saturday morning.

"It's definitely, you know, that it's going to hit every couple times a year," said Tucker Donnelley.

This morning was one of those times. Snow showers and winds blowing as high as sixty miles per hour created whiteout conditions.

"I actually live fifteen miles south of Twin up against the foot hills and we've actually had more snow out there in the last two to three weeks than we've had for the last several years," said Mike Lammers.

Areas south of Twin Falls experienced the worst of the storm. Highway 93 north of jackpot was closed for several hours after cars were stuck in high snow drifts. SIRCOMM and ISP responded to dozens of slide offs due to slick and snow covered roads.

"I know springs coming. We have more wind in the spring but we live in Southern Idaho and we have the wind. I really like the days with no wind though," said Vicky Fehringer.

The weather is always changing here in Southern Idaho and by Saturday afternoon the sun was shining.
