Plans to Replace the Wood River Bridge
Ketchum, Idaho - ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - The Idaho Transportation Department held a public open house to inform people about a new bridge project.
Plans to replace the Wood River Bridge, near the hospital, between Hailey and Ketchum are underway. The open house showed preliminary designs of what the new bridge is going to look like.
In these early stages, they are addressing environmental and aesthetic concerns. Wildlife corridors and recreational considerations are also up for discussion. Traffic flow and safety during the construction process are of utmost importance.
“During the construction project, that we do anticipate, there will be two lanes of traffic open at all times. The bridge replacement itself should take about 18-24 months for the entire project to be completed. We’ll build half the bridge at one time, move traffic to go over to the new bridge, and then build the other half,” said Nathan Jerke, Public Information Specialist for the Idaho Transportation Department.
If everything goes as planned, Wood River Valley residents should see construction activities begin in late 2015 or early 2016.
