Sun Valley, Idaho - ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - The annual meeting of the Wood River Women’s Charitable Foundation took place yesterday. The main agenda for the meeting? To give away $160,000 to local non-profits. To create this substantial donation purse, each member contributes $1000 a year. They are aloud to earmark up to $500 for the charity of their choice.

To select the remaining organizations, over 60 members volunteer to work with the co-chairs on the grants committee. They evaluate applications, make visits to the local non-profits and then make their recommendations. Every member is given a vote online to decide the winners.

This year’s recipients include a variety of Blaine County non-profits. The Advocates, Bellevue Library, and Swiftsure Ranch Therapeutic Equestrian Center are among some of the lucky winners.

“This is the culmination of a year’s process. We’re starting next year’s process today and our membership has grown this year. So, we will be able to award more money next year. We just keep growing and it’s thrilling to be a part of it,” said Peggy Goldwyn, Wood River Women’s Charitable Foundation.

Some of last year’s gift recipients spoke at the event and gave concrete examples on how they used the money. To learn more about the Wood River Women’s Charitable Foundation, visit their website, http://www.wrwcf.org.
