Community Working To Reduce Obesity
Rupert, Idaho (KMVT-TV) A team of concerned community members in Rupert are trying to reduce obesity in the community.
For the last six months the team ahs been working to complete a Community Health Assessment. Earlier this month they received a nine thousand dollar grant from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. "The obesity rate in Idaho is about 25%. Here in Minidoka County it's about 35%," said Adria Masoner, Health Education Specialist. The team plans to use the grant to establish an Employer Wellness Institute. It will hold classes for employers to teach them about the positive impacts of having healthy employees. Comments ( |
