Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) Studies show that kids are gaining more weight over the summer months than any other time during the year.
The YMCA is helping families stay active as the school year ends and the summer begins.
"So the Healthy Kids Day is a national event... All the Ys in the nation participate, and the main goal is just to bring kids and their families out to expose them to tons of different activities that have to do with healthy minds and bodies," explains Gilly Funk, YMCA of Twin Falls.
The theme of this year's Healthy Kids Day is "build a happier, healthier kid.”
Activities will include a bounce house, limbo, a healthy snack bar, face painting, and obstacle courses.
The Twin Falls Fire Department will be at the event, as well as local race car driver Sarah Neuhaus.
It will be at the YMCA on E-Street on Saturday from ten a.m. until noon.
