Mormons To March In Gay Pride Parade

Tools

By Paul Johnson

Salt Lake City, Utah (CNN) About 100 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will march this Sunday in Salt Lake City's annual Pride Parade.
Mormon church positions on homosexuality, gay rights and same sex marriage have strained relations with the gay community.
Erika Munson says the group Mormons Building Bridges does not take a stance on those issues but encourages members to "love thy neighbor."
There has been such strife and heartbreak in the Mormon Church and the (LGBT) community, and we just want to reach out in love and say, we love you, we respect you for who you are.
We've spent so much time focusing on what makes us different, and the time now is to focus on what makes us the same. That's what makes this great. And it really is about love.
Parade organizers will put members of Mormons Building Bridges front and center at Sunday's parade.
