Triple Murder Suspect Is Captured By Authorities After Trying To Cross Canadian/US Border
Edmonton, Alberta (CNN) Police in Canada say the suspect in a triple murder was arrested yesterday carrying more than 300-thousand dollars.
21-year-old Travis Baumgartner is accused of killing three armored car guards during a robbery on the campus of the University of Alberta Friday. Edmonton Police say he was taken into custody as he tried to cross into the U-S at the border between Canada and Washington state. "He tried to get into the border by producing his Alberta driver's license, which was his license. And he was also stopped -- he had a quantity of money on him around $330,000. We don't have the exact total yet but that's our best estimation at this time. He was arrested in Canada on the Canada side by the RCMP on those warrants. He was transferred to the Langley detachment where he is current held in custody, which will allow us the opportunity to have him transferred back to Edmonton." Baumgartner worked at the same security firm as the victims. A fourth guard was critically injured in the robbery. Comments ( |
