Mechanical Problem Forces Plane To Circle Las Vegas Airport For Hours
Las Vegas, Nevada (CNN) "Four hours of hell"...
That's how one JetBlue passenger described a flight that took off from Las Vegas headed to New York but never made it to its destination.
A mechanical failure forced the plane to return to McCarran International Airport.
Apparently, the plane's hydraulic system failed upon takeoff, and landing the fuel packed plane right away could have spelled disaster.
The plane had to circle the airport for hours to burn off enough fuel to land safely.
Upon landing, the aircraft was reportedly towed back to the gate and the passengers were put on another plane to New York.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
