Dad Goes Drinking And Is Accused Of Leaving Son In Car
San Diego, California (CNN) A man was arrested after allegedly leaving his son in a car for five hours. San Diego police say they found the 11-year-old boy asleep in a vehicle. The boy, who only speaks Spanish, told police his father was at this nearby bar. The man was handcuffed and searched. Officers say they found several empty beer bottles in the car. San Diego's police chief says it's a recipe for a dangerous situation. "Dad looks like he had been sitting in the car having a couple drinks. Worst case scenario he gets behind the wheel, he drives under the influence." Police say they also found what they believe to be cocaine in the man's pocket. He could face drug charges if the powder found tests positive. At the very least, police say he will face child endangerment charges. As for the child, he is currently in protective custody while police try to locate other family.
