Washington Mayor Arrested For Threatening Relative
Seattle, Washington (CNN) The mayor of Granite Falls, Washington is accused of threatening to kill members of his family. Haroon Saleem was released from jail Tuesday after appearing in court in Seattle. He was arrested Monday at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. According to court documents, he threatened to kill his adult niece and assault his nephew. Saleem was at the airport to pick up his 13-year-old daughter. His wife and daughter said the blowup was the result of a long-standing family feud and police should have arrested the relatives instead. An argument reportedly started while the daughter was in Los Angeles with cousins and escalated when Saleem picked her up at the airport. The mayor faces domestic violence charges. He's scheduled to be back in court later this week.
