Mayor Of An Alaska Village Walks On Four Paws
Talkeetna, Alaska (CNN) The mayor of a small Alaska town doesn't have much in common with other elected officials. That's because he's a cat. This is Stubbs. He became mayor of Talkeetna, Alaska 15 years ago as a write-in candidate. It seemed no one was thrilled with the humans on the ballot. Stubbs must be doing something right, because his approval ratings have never been higher. Since the village is a historical district, Stubbs' job is more symbolic than functional. Still, a store clerk who cares for Mayor Stubbs says he's very demanding. He will only drink his water from a wineglass with catnip in it and likes to take long naps. But, Stubbs is very popular with tourists who travel to see him, so it's all worth it.
