Almost 300 Pit Bulls Seized From Texas Refuge
Willis, Texas (CNN) - Hundreds of dogs have been seized from a pit bull sanctuary in Texas. The Humane Society of the United States says the dogs were living in filth at the Spindletop Pit Bull Refuge in Willis. 298 dogs were taken from the seven-acre property Tuesday night. "Many of them are in cramped, tight cages. Cages do small they can't even turn around. They're living in their own waste. Many of their cages have been shut for so long that we know these dogs haven't been out of their cages." "You cannot exist living in your own urine and feces. I watched dogs when we were doing a walk-through, drinking their own urine. A lot of them had absolutely no water." Authorities were alerted to the situation by a former employee. The dogs were treated and evaluated by vets Wednesday.
