Fire Burning Near Soda Springs
Soda Springs, Idaho (KMVT-TV) A fire that spread to 250 acres in Soda Springs Wednesday afternoon is 40 percent contained, according to the Bureau of Land Management.
Contrary to previous reports, no one has been evacuated, although the blaze north of the airport is near homes. Earlier, fire officials reported the fire to be around 1,000 acres, but the BLM now says the estimate is around 250 acres. Officials at the fire command post say the fire is approaching the ridge of Rabbit Hill. It could spread quickly if it crests the hill. The Eastern Idaho Interagency Fire Center said the fire is burning on county land. The EIIFC confirmed that structures are threatened, but no homes have been lost. It responded with four engines, a dozer, an air attack and two single engine air tankers. Fifty to 60 people are fighting the fire. Comments ( |
