Anaheim Residents Protest Recent Officer Involved Shooting Deaths
Anaheim, California (CNN) People in Anaheim, California took to the streets Sunday.
They're protesting recent officer-involved shootings. Two back-to-back police shootings left 25-year-old Manuel Diaz and 21-year-old Joel Acevado dead. Diaz's mom says she's relieved an investigation is under way into her son's death. Police describe Diaz as a documented gang member. They say he was shot when he appeared to be reaching for for something in his waistband when confronted by officers. Diaz's family denies he was part of any gang and says he was shot in his legs and then the back of the head July 21-st. The following day Acevado was shot and killed by police after he allegedly opened fire during a foot chase. Comments ( |
