Walnut Creek, California (CNN) A California Highway Patrol officer was wounded in a highway shooting.
It happened on Interstate 680 in Walnut Creek... about 20-miles north of San Francisco.
A suspect was also reportedly wounded during an exchange of gunfire.
Local media report the gunfire erupted after during a traffic stop, no word on what triggered the shooting. Traffic got backed up after all southbound lanes of the highway were closed.
