Chico, California (CNN) - Fishermen found the body of a Cal Poly student who has been missing since Labor Day weekend.
20-year-old Brett Olson went to Chico, California to go tubing down the Sacramento River.
His friends, family and strangers had been handing out missing person flyers since he disappeared.
"The outpouring that we have seen in the city of Chico from people that are coming from Tahoe, Lafayette, (unclear), from areas outside of that, coming here to help in the search for Brett, I think speaks volumes of how they feel about this young man. It's significant that they spent essentially a week looking for him and unfortunately this came to a tragic ending, but their efforts were not in vain. They did the right thing, because the event ended tragically, it does not mean they did not do the right thing." The fishermen found Olson in a washout downstream of Beer Can Beach, which was where he was last seen.
