Teen Accused Of Making Online School Shooting Threat Makes First Court Appearance

By Paul Johnson

King County, Washington (CNN) - A Washington state teen accused of making an online threat to go on a shooting rampage at his former high school made his first court appearance Wednesday.
The 16-year-old was put on home detention as the case proceeds.
He will be monitored electronically with an ankle bracelet.
Authorities are expected to file cyber bullying and harassment charges Thursday.
The teen made the alleged threat last month, prompting the school to close for a day.
His attorney says there are no indications he intended to carry out the threat.
Authorities suspect the teen made a similar online threat against another high school in the spring.
