Note Left In The Mountains Is Found By Another Hiker 40 Years Later
San Diego, California (CNN) - Two people connect across four decades... thanks to a well-preserved note left in the wilderness. Tim Taylor says he wrote this note during a camping trip to the Sierra-Nevada Mountains in 1972.
At the time, he was a 13-year-old Boy Scout. He had climbed to a peak by himself. There, he tucked the note inside a metal film canister. A man hiking with his grandson climbed the same peak, 40 years later. It's no big surprise that Taylor didn't have the same address. The newspaper ran a story on the note, though, and one of Taylor's friend pointed it out to him. "He just walked out to his driveway picked up his paper, and there I was ." "Tim, you're not going to believe this, you're in the paper for a note you left 40 years ago on some mountain top in the Sierras." The story helped connect Taylor -- now 53, living hundreds of miles away in San Diego -- with the man who found his note. Comments ( |
