Boise Firefighters Quickly Douse Apartment Fire That Could Have Been A Disaster

Boise, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The Boise Fire Department turned a structure fire call into quick work yesterday afternoon, averting what could have been a major disaster. Firefighters responded to the Vermont Apartments at South Vermont Avenue and West Beacon Street. The first arriving firefighters called for a second alarm after seeing smoke and flames coming from one of the top apartments. The second alarm brought six engines and two trucks to the fire. With that action, fire damage did not spread to the other five apartments beyond the involved unit. Reports from the fire department say it’s thought two university students lived in the damaged apartment and neither were home at the time of the fire. Investigators say the cause of the fire was a pan of butter on a burner left on high that caused a grease fire, igniting the wall of the kitchen. Investigators are labeling the fire accidental.
