Nestor, California (CNN) - A three-year-old California girl suffered a small puncture wound after being struck with a stun gun.
It happened Friday afternoon when officers were chasing a parolee through a strip mall parking lot.
A sheriff's deputy and his family were sitting on a bench nearby.
When police tried to taser the shoplifting suspect, one of the barbs hit the deputy's three-year-old daughter.
Because they were each only hit by one barb, neither the girl nor the suspect received any electrical shock.
The girl was treated at the scene.
The suspect was taken into custody.
