Foster "Mom" Wins Custody Of Obese Dachshund

By Paul Johnson

Hillsboro, Oregon (CNN) The battle for an overweight dachshund in Oregon has been won by his current owner…for now . A judge ruled that Oregon Dachshund rescue could not take the dog from foster mom, Nora Vanatta.
Vanatta says she's been caring for the dog for the last few months-helping it to slim down.
The rescue group argued that Vanatta is just trying to exploit the dog and that they were its rightful owners.
"We've had a victory in getting the dog to be able to stay with the proper home, and continue to receive the attention and care that Nora's been giving it."
The Oregon Dachshund Rescue says it will file paperwork asking an arbitrator to study the case and make a recommendation for custody of the dog.
