Frightened Deer Jumping Off Idaho Bridge To Their Deaths

By Paul Johnson

Boise, Idaho (CNN) - Deer are jumping to their deaths off an Idaho bridge.
Wildlife officials from Idaho Fish and Game say it happens all too often at the High Bridge near Boise.
Roaming deer crossing the bridge panic when they see an oncoming vehicle.
The deer's first instinct causes them to jump out of the way.
"First thing a deer's gonna do is try and get away. They jump over what they think is just into the barrow pit, but it's a 120 foot fall to the river below."
The highway cuts through a deer winter-range area.
As colder weather brings more deer there, drivers are urged to slow down while crossing the bridge.
