The Maker Of Twinkies And Wonder Bread Is Closing Plants And Laying Off Workers

Sacramento, California (CNN) - The maker of such beloved favorites as Twinkies and Wonder bread is closing plants and laying off workers.
Hostess employees in Sacremento are on strike, as are employees at 23 of the company's 36 plants across the country.
The bakers union is picketing, upset over a new contract that includes wage concessions and benefit reductions.
Hostess leaders decided to close three plants today (Monday) and layoff more than 600 workers.
Leaders say they may have to shut down more plants if enough workers don't cross the picket line and get back to work.
The Texas-based company said the strike is preventing it from producing and delivering products.
