Man Convicted Of Killing Two Girls Is Executed
Florence, Arizona (CNN) - The man convicted of killing two Arizona girls more than 20-years ago has been put to death.
Richard Dale Stokley was executed this morning by lethal injection.
It came a day after a judge rejected his final appeal.
Stokley was convicted of in the 1991 killings of 13-year-olds Mandy Meyers and Mary Snyder.
The sister of Snyder spoke after the execution.
"This is a long time coming. We have waited over 20 years for this chapter of our lives to end. Now is the start of healing for our families. I'm happy that this day has come but sad because we had to lose my sister to get here. Those who ask how I can be happy someone's life is gone, well, my sister's life is gone as well. This person lived for many, many years, whereas my sister did not."
Another man, Randy Brazeal, was also convicted in the girls' rape and murder.
But he entered into a plea agreement, which came with a 20-year sentence.
He was released last year.
