Senator Mike Crapo Will Not Contest Drunk Driving Charges
Alexandria, (CNN) - Idaho Senator Mike Crapo will not contest drunk driving charges filed against him following an incident in Virginia last Sunday.
That's according to a spokeswoman for the Republican lawmaker. Crapo allegedly ran a red light in Alexandria, and failed several field sobriety tests at the scene. Police say initial testing showed his blood alcohol level was point-one-one percent. Crapo has not spoken about the incident, but in a statement last week, apologized for his actions and said he would accept whatever penalty was due. Virginia law requires a 250-dollar fine and one-year license suspension for a D-U-I with a blood alcohol at Crapo's level. Crapo is set to appear in court on January 4th -- the day after he is sworn in for his fourth senate term. Comments ( |
