UPDATED INFORMATION: Salt Lake International Airport Closed Due To Ice, Airplane Accident
UPDATE 12:45 PM - The Magic Valley Regional Airport is currently landing divert aircraft from Salt Lake City. As of 11:30, there have been 4 large planes that have landed and up to 20 aircraft expected today.
Salt Lake City, Utah ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The Salt Lake City International Airport has been closed due to icy conditions.
Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann says a Frontier airplane slid off the runway during landing Thursday morning. There are no reports of injuries.
Gann says it's unknown how long the airport will be closed. The closure is due to ice and poor friction on the runways.
Road conditions for Salt Lake are being reported as very dangerous with freezing rain.
According to KIFI-TV in Idaho Falls, Some of those flights have been or are being diverted to Idaho Falls and Pocatello.
