Sandy, Oregon (CNN) - A dog's trip onto an icy lake turned into a rescue mission in Oregon.
Mango, seen in the attached video walking with his owner, has his footing now but ran into some trouble out on the lake.
The dog was found with his hind legs stuck in a combination of mud and ice about 40 feet from the shore of Hope Lake.
With a neighbor's boat, firefighters used axes and shovels to cut through the ice to retrieve Mango.
How the dog got trapped on the ice is still a mystery.
You know, I've never known him to be in the water you know I really haven't. I don't know what the heck he was doing out there. I mean he does his own thing He usually has a curled tail he's feeling pretty humble right about now.
Mango did suffer from hypothermia but otherwise, he's just fine.
