New "Kiss" Statue Arrives In San Diego
San Diego, California (CNN) - The "smooch" is back in California, just in time for Valentine's Day.
A new "kiss" statue arrived at the San Diego waterfront Monday morning. It depicts a sailor stealing a kiss from a nurse at the end of World War Two. It was inspired by a photograph taken in New York's Times Square in a 1945. The 25-foot tall bronze statue cost one million dollars to make. The original statue, a foam core version, was on loan and had to be returned for restoration. Comments ( |
