Two Charged With Putting Razors In Doughnuts And Eating Them
Draper, Utah (CNN) - A man and woman in Utah are accused of hiding razor blades inside doughnuts and eating them to try to scam a grocery store.
Police arrested 39-year-old Carrol Leazer and 35-year-old Michael Conder Monday.
Authorities say they tried to make an injury claim against the store to get money.
"During the course of the investigation we were able to determine that they intentionally inserted these broken razor blades into the doughnuts that they had purchased at Smith's and then swallowed the razor blades with the doughnuts.”
Police say they also gave a razor-laced doughnut to a co-worker, who called police after taking a bite.
Officers say both could face charges of aggravated assault and filing a false police report.
Police say the co-worker was not aware of the scam and was cleared of wrongdoing.
