Bisbee, Arizona Votes To Recognize Same-Sex Civil Unions

By Paul Johnson

Bisbee, Arizona (CNN) - The small southeastern Arizona town of Bisbee has voted to recognize same-sex civil unions.
Supporters and opponents packed the Bisbee City Council meeting Tuesday.
The final vote was 5-to-2.
Bisbee is the first Arizona city to legalize same-sex civil unions.
The ordinance gives same-sex partners some of the same rights as married couples within the Bisbee boundaries.
The state Attorney General called the ordinance unconstitutional, and has promised to go to court to block it.
