Montana Airport Sues To Prevent Closure Of Air Traffic Control Tower

Kalispell, Montana (CNN) - Some airports are putting up a fight against spending cuts that will close air traffic control towers around the country.
Montana's Glacier Park International Airport could soon lose its control tower.
The Flathead Municipal Airport Authority is suing the F-A-A to try to prevent that from happening.
The Federal Aviation Administration decided to close that tower and dozens of others as forced spending cuts take effect all over the country.
Senator Max Baucus says the closure doesn't make much sense for an area like Montana.
"Look at the terrain. The mountain is next to the park. The weather changes all the time. I can think of other airport towers in other parts of the country, where they're nearby to some other towns, where the weather doesn't change that much and there's not the mountainous terrain. Probably makes more sense to -- if not cut, cut back hours. Doesn't need to be a full elimination, you can just cut back some hours."
Similar lawsuits have been filed nationwide to prevent other towers from closing.
