U Of Nevada Plants A Vineyard In Reno

By Paul Johnson

Reno, Nevada (CNN) - Students and professors with the University of Nevada are working on a new vineyard.
The university started its wine research program in 1995.
Volunteers currently run a small vineyard in another location but wanted to expand.
For the last year the university has been raising money and picking a location.
Now they think they found the right one at the university of nevada's main station farm in reno.
"Places like this that are higher elevation farther north are a little bit cooler now and are going to be just right 30 years from now."
The hope is to transform the small plot of land to a commercial-sized facility -- with the first bottle of wine ready to sell in three years.
