Albuquerque, New Mexico (CNN) - Authorities say a man went on a stabbing spree at a catholic church in Albuquerque. Four people were injured, two of them critically.
Police say 24-year-old Lawrence Capener charged the choir just after communion, yelling "fake preacher!" and began stabbing choir members.
One choir member says when the attacker went after the soloist, the flutist tried to protect him.
The flutist says he ended up getting stabbed near the neck and in the back four times.
He spoke out from his hospital bed.
I just instinctively dropped my flute and i charged the guy and i got him into a bear hug and pinned him against the wall but he was much taller than i am.
Authorities said members of the congregation, including a firefighter, were able to subdue Capener until police arrived.
Officials said Capener was not a parishioner.
He was taken into custody and is being questioned. He is expected to face numerous felony charges.
