Santa Fe, New Mexico (CNN) - When you work as a jewelry designer, you see a lot of beautiful, precious stones.
But when a woman in New Mexico got her first glimpse of a giant opal from Australia, she says she actually shed some tears.
The 306 carat black opal lay buried in the earth for millions of years.
But as Alana Grimsted reports, it's now ready to go public.
