Replacement Work For A Collapsed Bridge In Washington State Is Underway

By Paul Johnson

Mount Vernon, Washington (CNN) - Crews in Washington State have started repair work on a collapsed bridge.
Here you see the I-five bridge.....located over the Skagit river in Mount Vernon.
Over the weekend the state's department of transportation set a temporary span into place.
Officials with the DOT say commuters should be able to drive over the river within the next few days.
The bridge was damaged last month when a truck's load hit some of the upper crossbeams.
Crews hope to have a permanent bridge completed shortly after summer.
