Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Boise Police have received multiple reports in recent days from residents throughout the city involving aggressive, suspicious door-to-door solicitors. Residents are urged to call 911 immediately if they see aggressive, threatening or otherwise suspicious solicitors in their neighborhood so an officer can respond.
What's Being Reported: Reports of unlicensed door-to-door solicitors are unfortunately very common. However, the recent reports are very specific and suspicious involving a young man wearing a polo-type shirt with a DirecTV or Dish Network logo on the left shoulder. The man is reported to be very aggressive in trying to get the resident to allow him into the home saying he needs to check their television to see if they are eligible for a service upgrade. Satellite television companies tell Boise Police the solicitors are not official company representatives. Residents have reported the solicitor coming to their door as late as 10:00 p.m.
All Solicitors operating in Boise Must Display a Current City License! Boise City requires all door-to-door solicitors must be licensed by the City and to carry and display their official license at all times. Boise City Solicitors Licenses have the individuals picture on it as well as the Boise City logo.
Solicitors are allowed to engage in their licensed business only between 9:00 a.m. and one hour after sunset unless located in a commercially zoned area.
