Paula Deen Invokes Prop 8 Ruling-Lawsuit Defense

By Paul Johnson

(CNN) - Celebrity chef Paula Deen hopes the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on same sex marriage last week will help her with her legal troubles.
Deen's attorney filed a motion in U.S. district court in Savannah, Georgia Monday....citing the ruling in the proposition eight case.
The Supreme Court ruled that the private parties behind the appeal did not have the standing to defend the ballot measure.
Deen's attorney argues the plaintiff in the case is white ... And therefore does not have the "standing" or "legal right" to sue Deen for racial discrimination.
The cooking expert's career has already taken a major hit from a deposition in the case which she admitted to using a racial slur in the past.
She's lost at least nine endorsements and her cooking show on the food network.
The publication of her eagerly awaited cookbook has also been canceled.
