Retail Fraud Scheme In Boise Ends In Triple Arrest

Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Boise police detectives say they have arrested three people who are suspected in being involved in fraudulent activity that had taken place yesterday. Officers located the suspects in the parking lot of a retail store in the 1200 block of North Milwaukee about 12:30pm. Police arrested Pranav Umesh of Elmhurst New York, Tong F. Leong, 50 and Wen Zheng 53. Long and Zheng were charged with criminal possession of a financial tranction card. Umish was also charged with Burglary. Detectives determined that Pranav Umesh had just used a counterfeit credit card to obtain gift cards and merchandise in the store. A search of the suspect's vehicle revealed more than 100 counterfeit credit cards, multiple purchased gift cards from various stores, and other evidence indicating all three had been involved in the fraudulent activity. Boise Police property crimes detectives conducted a thorough investigation into the ring's illegal activities and have evidence that indicates they have been travelling the region conducting fraudulent transactions. Detectives have no evidence that indicates the credit card information was obtained locally. The suspects were transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges. Further charges in this case may be pending.
