Bay Bridge Eastern Span Opening Delayed Again

By Paul Johnson

San Francisco, California (CNN) - The eastern span of the San Francisco-Oakland bay bridge will not open as scheduled on Labor Day weekend.
Transportation officials made the announcement on Monday.
They say 32 broken bolts found on the structure back in march won't be fixed in time.
"We are sorry. We are very sorry for this delay, but we have a retrofit that we need to get built and we need to get it installed and we need to do it right."
According to the L.A. Times, fixing the problem will add about 15-million dollars to the 6-point-3 billion dollar cost of the project.
It also pushes back the opening for at least three months.
