Arizona Senator John McCain reports for jury duty in Phoenix
Phoenix, Arizona (CNN) - Republican senator John McCain started the week being called for jury duty.
The Arizona senator made his way into the Maricopa county courthouse in Phoenix Monday morning.
McCain joked about fulfilling his civic duty.
"Doing my civic duty for a change. Going to see if we can't re-institute law and order in Maricopa County which has been badly deteriorating so we're out to get those criminals right?"
Senator McCain was initially picked for a jury panel, but was not ultimately selected for trial.
It freed him so he could keep a previous engagement of speaking to the Phoenix chamber of commerce.
