Madrid, New Mexico (CNN) - As if flood waters were not enough...
Folks in Madrid, New Mexico are cleaning up dried streams of coal from flash floods earlier this week.
The black mud rolled in from abandoned coal mines nearby, causing an enormous mess and tons of damage.
State health officials say the muddy coal does not pose any extra health risks beyond what's normal of living near a coal mine.
The clean-up is expected to take weeks.
